After you are up and running, you can change what AI Activate covers and how AI Activate behaves. This article covers editing your scope, adding volumes, changing your capacity, turning MCP access on or off, and adjusting your MCP Query Scope.
Editing your scope
You can change what a volume exposes to AI Activate by editing the volume's scope.
On the inventoried volume, click the ellipses … and then choose Configure Activation.

Your current active scope is already in place, so you do not start from scratch. Adjust the paths you include and exclude.
Editing scope works the same way as the first time. As you adjust paths, the Portal shows a live estimate, and the same capacity check applies:
If a change would take your estimated Content Activated Files above your capacity, you cannot apply the change, just as during first activation. Acquire more capacity, or adjust your scope to fit.
If your Content Activated Files have already grown past your capacity, you cannot make changes other than reducing your scope, which lets you bring yourself back within your capacity.
When you commit a change, AI Activate re-activates the volume to match the new scope. As with any activation, the change takes effect after the next activation pass.
Removing paths lowers your Content Activated Files and frees available capacity. See Changing your capacity or query allocation below for how reducing your Content Activated Files differs from changing your subscription.
Adding another volume
To bring another volume into AI Activate, repeat the setup flow for the volume: run an inventory, define the scope, activate the volume, and turn on MCP access. Configure each volume separately. Your single MCP endpoint exposes every volume you enable. See Volume Inventory and Scoping to start.
Removing AI Activate from a volume
To remove AI Activate from a volume, select the Remove AI Activate option for that volume in the main volume list.
On the inventoried volume click the ellipses … and then choose Remove AI Activate.

Removing AI Activate from a volume:
Does not change or delete the volume or its data. The removal affects only AI Activate. The volume and the volume’s contents in Nasuni are unaffected.
Marks the volume for removal and starts a countdown. The volume shows a Removal Pending status with the time remaining until permanent removal and shows Removed after the countdown completes.
Immediately frees the file capacity consumed by the volume and makes the released capacity available. As with other scope changes, removing AI Activate frees consumed capacity, but does not change your subscribed capacity.
Changing your capacity or query allocation
Your subscribed capacity and your query allocation, the amounts your subscription is sized to, change only through your Nasuni account team.
Both scenarios below lower your consumption and release capacity, without changing the subscription itself:
Removing content from scope. If you exclude paths, your Content Activated Files drop, and the released capacity becomes available.
Deleting a file. If you delete a Content Activated File from the volume, AI Activate removes the file during the next activation and makes one file of capacity available.
In both cases, your subscribed capacity (the amount you pay for) is unchanged.
To change your subscription or ask a question about your capacity, contact your account team.
Turning MCP access on or off
You can turn off MCP access for a volume at any time in the Portal. See Enable MCP access. Turning off MCP access makes the volume unreachable through your MCP endpoint while leaving the volume's content activated. Your billing is unchanged. Turn MCP access back on to make the volume reachable again.
Adjusting MCP Query Scope
You can change your MCP Query Scope, which includes the File Type filter, the Date Range filter, and the Ignore SIDs feature, at any time in the Portal for each volume. The MCP Query Scope applies to your AI tool's results and does not affect billing. See Enable MCP Access and Connect your AI tool for details on each option.
