When OpenAI's instructions request connection details, use the Nasuni values in this guide. OpenAI's article is the authoritative source for ChatGPT's steps, plan requirements, and workspace permissions, which change as ChatGPT changes. OpenAI's instructions: [Connecting custom MCP servers in ChatGPT](https://help.openai.com/en/articles/12584461-connecting-custom-mcp-servers-in-chatgpt) ## Before you start - At least one volume is activated and has MCP access turned on. For more information, see [Enable MCP Access and Connect your AI tool](/v1/docs/ai-activate-enable-mcp-access-and-connect-your-ai-tool). - Have your account's MCP endpoint, copied from the Portal under **AI Activate** → **MCP Server**. See [Get your MCP endpoint](/v1/docs/ai-activate-enable-mcp-access-and-connect-your-ai-tool#get-your-mcp-endpoint). - Know your organization's company name, which you enter when you sign in through Nasuni Portal single sign-on. - Assign the people who plan to use AI Activate to the Nasuni connection in your identity provider (Okta or Microsoft Entra ID). - Your ChatGPT plan and workspace role let you add a custom MCP server. OpenAI's article lists the plans and roles. ## Nasuni details for ChatGPT When OpenAI's instructions request connection values, use the following Nasuni details. | OpenAI's step | What to enter or choose | | --- | --- | | Name | A name your users recognize, for example, **Nasuni AI Activate**. | | Connection | Enter your account's MCP endpoint from the Portal as the endpoint URL. You do not need a Secure MCP Tunnel because Nasuni hosts the endpoint on the public internet. | | Authentication | OAuth. ChatGPT registers with AI Activate automatically, so you do not need to enter a client ID, client secret, or scopes. | | Sign-in prompt | Sign in through Nasuni Portal single sign-on with your company name and your own account. | ## Make AI Activate available to your workspace After you create and test the connection, a workspace admin or owner publishes the connection for the workspace, as described in OpenAI's article. On first use of AI Activate in ChatGPT, each person signs in with their own Nasuni account. AI Activate returns results based on the permissions of the person who signs in, so two people can get different results for the same question. ## After an AI Activate update ChatGPT keeps the list of AI Activate tools from when the connection was published and does not pick up changes automatically. After Nasuni updates AI Activate, a workspace admin might need to refresh the tool list in ChatGPT workspace settings before AI Activate works as expected. ChatGPT does not notify admins when a refresh is needed. OpenAI's article describes how to refresh the tool list. ## Things to know - Each tool call ChatGPT makes to AI Activate counts as one Activate Query, and a single question can trigger several calls. Features that work through many steps automatically, such as deep research, can make many calls for one request. For more information, see [Monitor Your Usage](/v1/docs/ai-activate-monitor-your-usage). - If ChatGPT asks you to sign in again, sign in through Nasuni Portal single sign-on again. - For sign-in problems or missing results, see [Troubleshooting](/v1/docs/ai-activate-troubleshooting).
