Claude supports automatic Dynamic Client Registration (DCR), which registers Claude with the server at connection time. You do not perform the manual registration procedure used for clients without DCR. You provide the MCP server URL, and Claude handles the OAuth setup, including discovering the authorization and token endpoints from the server metadata. This guide is a companion to [AI Activate - Connecting MCP Clients That Do Not Support Automatic DCR](/v1/docs/aia-connecting-nodcr), which explains how OAuth and DCR work in this setup. Claude skips the manual Step 2 and Step 3 in that document because DCR is automatic. This guide summarizes Anthropic’s setup instructions, and each section links to the relevant Anthropic page. Refer to Anthropic’s pages for the authoritative, current instructions; this guide provides only the Nasuni endpoint and specifics. ## AI Activate MCP Endpoint for Claude | Setting | Value | | --- | --- | | MCP server URL | [https://preview.mcp.nasuni.com](https://preview.mcp.nasuni.com) | | Authentication | OAuth (Claude handles authentication automatically; no need for Client ID, client secret, or scopes.) | You only need the URL. Claude discovers the OAuth endpoints and completes registration automatically. When prompted, complete the OAuth sign-in to authorize access. ## Connect Claude Desktop, claude.ai, and Cowork Custom connectors using remote MCP are a beta feature, available on Free (one connector), Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise plans. Anthropic’s instructions: [Get started with custom connectors using remote MCP](https://support.claude.com/en/articles/11175166-get-started-with-custom-connectors-using-remote-mcp) To add a connector, follow these steps: - **Pro and Max**: 1. Go to **Customize** **→** **Connectors.** 2. Click the “**+**”. 3. Choose “**Add custom connector**”. 4. Enter the MCP server URL as in [AI Activate MCP Endpoint for Claude](/v1/docs/claude#endpoint) above. 5. Click **Add**. 6. Leave the **Advanced** settings (OAuth Client ID and secret) blank, since DCR is automatic. - **Team and Enterprise**: 1. As an Owner, add the connector once under **Organization settings** **→** **Connectors** (**Add** **→** **Custom** **→** **Web**, then enter the URL). 2. As a member, connect to the connector under **Customize** **→** **Connectors** by clicking **Connect**. - Enable the connector in a conversation with the “**+**” button, then **Connectors**, and toggle the connector on. Network reachability: when you use a custom connector in Claude Desktop, claude.ai, Cowork, or the mobile apps, Claude connects to the MCP server from Anthropic’s cloud infrastructure, not from your local device. The endpoint must, therefore, be reachable over the public internet from Anthropic’s IP ranges. Even if you can reach a server from your own machine, these clients cannot reach a server that is available only on an internal network or through a VPN. If an allowlist is required, Anthropic publishes the relevant IP ranges. ## Connect Claude Code Anthropic’s instructions: [Connect Claude Code to tools via MCP](https://code.claude.com/docs/en/mcp). Add the server over HTTP transport: `claude mcp add --transport http nasuni-ai-activate https://preview.mcp.nasuni.com` Then authenticate using the OAuth browser flow. Either run /mcp inside a Claude Code session and follow the login prompts, or run: `claude mcp login nasuni-ai-activate` > ***Notes****:* > > - *You do not need a Client ID or secret. Claude Code discovers the OAuth configuration and registers through DCR automatically.* > - *Use the* *--scope* *flag to select the configuration scope:* > - *local* *(default, current project only)* > - *project* *(shared via a checked-in* *.mcp.json**)* > - *user* *(all your projects)* > - *Unlike the desktop and web clients, Claude Code connects to the MCP server from your local machine, and the OAuth callback uses localhost. Reachability from your own network is what matters here.* > ## *Notes* > > - *Because Claude supports automatic DCR, Claude apps and Claude Code do not require manual client registration, a Client ID, a client secret, or scopes.* > - *Custom remote MCP connectors are currently a beta feature in the Claude apps.* > - *For the authoritative and most current setup steps, always defer to the linked Anthropic documentation, since Anthropic’s UI and CLI can change.*
