# Google Appendix B: Google Compute Machine Type recommendations

The following table lists current and previous generation GCE virtual machine types that work well with Nasuni.

| Type | Small | Medium | Large | Notes |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| [N4 Standard](https://cloud.google.com/compute/docs/general-purpose-machines#n4-standard) | n4-standard-8 COW: Hyperdisk balanced | n4-standard-16 COW: Hyperdisk balanced | n4-standard-48 COW: Hyperdisk balanced | Current generation Intel VM (requires Nasuni 10.1+). N4 instances do not support NVME ephemeral devices, typically used for the COW. |
| [C4 Standard](https://cloud.google.com/compute/docs/general-purpose-machines#c4-standard) | c4-standard-8 COW: Hyperdisk balanced | c4-standard-16 COW: Hyperdisk balanced | c4-standard-48 COW: Hyperdisk balanced | Current generation Intel VM (requires Nasuni 10.1+) We do not support the “-lssd” variant for the COW. Use a HyperDisk balanced disk for the COW instead. |
| [N2 Standard](https://cloud.google.com/compute/docs/general-purpose-machines#n2_series) | n2-standard-8 COW: Persistent Disk | n2-standard-16 COW: NVME Local SSD | n2-standard-48 COW: NVME Local SSD | Previous generation Intel VMs with flexible sizing |
