Chapter 6: Volume Configuration

Prev Next

You use volumes to manage data. There are two types of volumes: local volumes that are “owned” by the local Nasuni Edge Appliance, and remote volumes that belong to other Nasuni Edge Appliances.

You can configure volume features using the Nasuni Management Console (NMC). See NMC Guide.

Volume tasks that you can perform include the following:

  • Viewing the information and properties of “owned” local and remote volumes.

  • Adding or creating new "owned" local volumes using the SMB (CIFS) or NFS protocols.

  • Connecting to remote volumes.

  • Initiating a snapshot.

  • Viewing the Volume Properties for a volume.

  • Changing the properties of volumes, including volume name and quota (maximum capacity).

  • Creating and change SMB (CIFS) shares, NFS exports, and FTP/SFTP directories.

  • Configuring snapshot scheduling.

  • Enabling and disabling access to snapshot directories.

  • Adding, disabling, and enabling encryption keys for volumes.

  • Configuring sync schedules.

  • Configuring file auditing for the volume.

  • Configuring alerts for files with specified name patterns.

  • Deleting a volume.
