# Google: Uninstalling the Nasuni Edge Appliance

## Overview

This chapter explains how to uninstall the Nasuni Edge Appliance from your supported platform. You might need to uninstall the Nasuni Edge Appliance if you are upgrading the system hardware.

## Uninstalling the Nasuni Edge Appliance

> *Caution: When you uninstall the Nasuni Edge Appliance, all data in the cache is deleted.*

> [!WARNING]
> *Caution: Always shut down the NEA or NMC before shutting down the VM.*

> [!WARNING]
> *Caution: Do not reboot or power off the appliance during the first boot. After the first boot completes, you may reboot or power off the appliance as needed.*

To uninstall the Nasuni Edge Appliance on the Google Cloud using the Google Cloud Console, follow these steps:

1. Shut down the Nasuni Edge Appliance from your Web browser. See the section entitled “Shutting Down and Rebooting Nasuni Edge Appliance” in the [Nasuni Edge Appliance Administration Guide](https://docs.nasuni.com/docs/nasuni-edge-administration)for instructions.

In particular, perform the following steps:
  - Disconnect remote volumes.
  - Delete owned volumes.
2. Click the **Navigation menu** icon at the upper left. From the drop-down menu, select **Compute Engine**, then select **VM Instances**. The **VM Instances** pane appears.

3. From the list of VM Instances, click the instance to add a new disk for.
4. Click **Stop**.
5. Click **Delete**.
