# Hitachi Content Platform (HCP) Configuration

Hitachi Content Platform (HCP) is a private cloud object storage offering from Hitachi Vantara. Nasuni enables customers to leverage HCP for high-performance file storage. By using Nasuni’s object storage-based global file system with HCP, customers can modernize legacy NAS and file server infrastructure and achieve new levels of cross-office file collaboration.

## Hitachi Content Platform (HCP) configuration

Before configuring Nasuni for HCP, you must follow this procedure from Hitachi Vantara: [How do I configure Hitachi Content Platform for Nasuni?](https://community.hitachivantara.com/blogs/roguen-keller/2019/08/22/how-do-i-configure-nasuni-for-hcp).

## Configuration

Nasuni supports HCP using the Nasuni Connector for Hitachi Content Platform.

To configure Nasuni for HCP, follow these steps:

1. Ensure that port 443 (HTTPS) is open between the Nasuni Edge Appliance and HCP.
2. On NMC, click **Account**.
3. Select **Cloud Credentials**.
4. Click **Add New Credentials**, then select **Hitachi Content Platform**from the drop-down menu.
5. Enter the following from the Hitachi Content Platform storage service account: **Name**: A name for this set of credentials, which is used for display purposes, such as ObjectStorageCluster1. **Access Key ID**: The Base64-encoded username for your user account for HCP for this set of credentials. This is the left-hand part of the authorization token in Hitachi Content Platform (HCP) configuration above. **Secret Access Key**: The object data store key from the HCP user interface for this set of credentials. This is the right-hand part of the authorization token in Hitachi Content Platform (HCP) configuration above. **Hostname**: The hostname for the location of the object storage solution. **Verify SSL Certificates**: For self-signed certificates, certificates generated with a private root CA, or a default certificate: Off. For fully valid SSL certificate: On. **Targets** (on NMC only): The target Nasuni Edge Appliance(s).
6. Click **Save Credentials**.

At this point, you can begin adding volumes to the Nasuni Edge Appliance.

## Adding volumes

To add volumes with HCP, follow these steps:

1. Click **Volumes**, then click **Add New Volume**. The **Add New Volume** page appears.
2. Enter the following information for the new volume: **Name**: Enter a human-readable name for the volume. **Cloud Provider**: Select **Hitachi Content Platform (HCP)**. **Credentials**: Select the **Cloud Credentials** that you defined in step 5 for this volume, such as ObjectStorageCluster1. For the remaining options, select what is appropriate for this volume.
3. Click **Save**.

This creates a new volume with HCP.
