Introduction

Notifications (or Alerts) are Nasuni Edge Appliance messages.

You might receive the following types of notifications, listed in order of decreasing severity:

  • Alert: Something unusual or incorrect has occurred, and the user should take notice and try to resolve the situation, if possible, or contact Nasuni Support for assistance, if necessary. Alerts generate emails to the user, if the user has set up email.

  • Error: Something unusual or incorrect has occurred, and the user should take notice and try to resolve the situation, if possible. Errors generate email messages to the user, if the user has set up email.

  • Warning: Something unusual has happened, but the user need not take action.

  • Info: The system has performed an action, or has changed its state, in such a way that the user might be interested, but that does not require action or attention.

Alert and Error messages often require some action.

Warning and Info messages usually require no action.

The Edge Appliance has detected an unclean shutdown. Please use the shutdown link from the web UI to shut down.

The Edge Appliance shut down, but not deliberately (for example, using the Power and Shut Down procedure or as the result of an update process).

If this occurred deliberately, next time use the Power and Shut Down procedure. If this did not occur deliberately, check for power outage, hardware problems, and/or a VM host issue.
