If you need help, contact Nasuni Technical Support ([www.nasuni.com/support](http://www.nasuni.com/support)). ## Install and Set Up the NMC ### Prerequisites > ***Note****: There can be at most one NMC per account.* > ***Note****: The NMC requires 32 GB of disk space and 16 GiB of memory. In particular:* > > | **Managed Edge Appliances** | **CPUs** | **Memory** | > | --- | --- | --- | > | Up to 50 | 2 | 16 GiB | > | Up to 100 | 4 | 16 GiB | > | Up to 300 If the NMC manages more than 200 Edge Appliances, contact Nasuni Support for the required configuration. | 8 | 32 GiB | > > *If using Varonis, provide at least 4 CPUs, 16 GiB of memory, and an appropriately sized virtual machine.* *These values are general recommendations. A specific deployment might require additional resources.* > [!WARNING] > ***Important****: Installing third-party software on a Nasuni appliance is not allowed.* ### Download and deploy the NMC 1. Download and install the NMC software using these steps: 1. Log in to your Nasuni account at [portal.nasuni.com](https://portal.nasuni.com) Click **Install Software**. 2. An unsupported version generates a warning at startup.* 3. From the list of available releases, select an available NMC release. For NMC recovery deployments, the selected installation image must be compatible with the source NMC version. See [Compatibility and Support](/v1/docs/compatibility-support#nmc-update-paths) for supported update paths. 4. Download and unzip the NMC software .zip file on your local drive. Users who already have an appropriate installation file do not need to download the file again. 5. Install the NMC in your virtual environment, then **Start** or **Power On** the virtual machine. The NMC installation screen appears. 2. After a few moments, the NMC console screen appears. If DHCP is available, record the IP address shown on the console screen. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/2adf6ce2-c120-4520-b135-0fc4463ddde3/Images/Documentation/nasuni-management-console-quick-start-image-91mj3grh.png) Otherwise, sign in to the service console, run editnetwork, run setall static, and enter the new IP address. 1. Use the initial IP address with a Web browser: https://** The NMC and Edge Appliances require operational DNS servers and an internal or external time server. ### Complete the Install Wizard 1. Follow the steps of the Install Wizard, including entering the NMC Serial Number and Authorization Code. The Serial Number and Authorization Code are at [portal.nasuni.com](https://portal.nasuni.com/). ![](https://cdn.document360.io/2adf6ce2-c120-4520-b135-0fc4463ddde3/Images/Documentation/nasuni-management-console-quick-start-image-9o16obv4.jpg) 2. When the Install Wizard finishes, the NMC **Home** page appears. 3. Place Nasuni Edge Appliances under management of the NMC. ### Perform initial configuration *Joining Active Directory or LDAP Directory Services* ![](https://cdn.document360.io/2adf6ce2-c120-4520-b135-0fc4463ddde3/Images/Documentation/nasuni-management-console-quick-start-image-8kiigtkx.png) To join an Active Directory or LDAP domain, click **Console Settings**, then select **Directory Services**. ***Important****: You cannot enable both Active Directory and LDAP Directory Services for a Nasuni Edge Appliance.* ## # Place Edge Appliances (NEA) Under NMC Management On the Nasuni Edge Appliance, click **Services**, then select **Nasuni Management Console** from the list. Select **enabled**. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/2adf6ce2-c120-4520-b135-0fc4463ddde3/Images/Documentation/nasuni-management-console-quick-start-image-5rf70n68.jpg) It can take 10-15 minutes for the Nasuni Edge Appliance to appear in the NMC user interface.
