# Scality ARTESCA Configuration Guide

Scality ARTESCA is storage software that provides simple, secure S3 object storage, designed to deliver the strongest form of data immutability and end-to-end resilience.

Nasuni enables customers to leverage Scality ARTESCA for high-performance file storage. By using Nasuni’s object-storage-based global file system with Scality ARTESCA, customers can modernize legacy NAS and file-server infrastructure and achieve new levels of data protection and cross-office file collaboration.

## Configuring Cloud Credentials

Nasuni supports Scality ARTESCA by using the Nasuni Connector for Amazon S3.

> ***Tip****: With on-premises object storage, if you are using an HTTPS proxy, consider including the hostnames of the target endpoint for the on-premises object storage in the****Do Not Proxy****specification. Otherwise, the proxy server might not allow data traffic or might slow down data traffic.*

> ***Tip****: With on-premises object storage, create two DNS entries (“A” records) for the target endpoint of the on-premises object storage that point to the desired IP address, in this form:*
>
> hostname.your.domain
>
> *.hostname.your.domain
>
> *This is necessary so that the Nasuni Edge Appliance can connect to the volumes using, for example, bucketname.hostname.your.domain.*

To configure Nasuni for Scality ARTESCA, follow these steps:

1. Ensure that port 443 (HTTPS) is open between the Nasuni Edge Appliance and the object storage solution.
2. On the NMC, click **Account Status**.
3. Click **Cloud Credentials**.
4. Click **Add New Credentials**, then select **Amazon S3** from the drop-down menu.
5. Enter the following information from the Scality ARTESCA cluster: **Name**: This is a name for this set of credentials used for display purposes, such as ObjectStorageCluster1. **Access Key ID**: The bucket or container user name for authentication. **Secret Access Key**: The bucket or container user password for authentication. **Hostname**: The hostname for the location of the object storage solution. **Verify SSL Certificates**: Select this checkbox only if the endpoint has a public certificate. **Filers**: Select the target Nasuni Edge Appliances.
6. Click **Save Credentials**.

At this point, you can begin adding volumes to the Nasuni Edge Appliance.

## Adding volumes

To add volumes with Scality ARTESCA cloud credentials, follow these steps:

1. Click **Volumes**, then click **Add New Volume**. The **Add New Volume** page appears.
2. Enter the following information for the new volume: **Name**: Enter a human-readable name for the volume. **Protocol**: Any supported protocol. **Cloud Provider**: Select **Amazon S3**. **Credentials**: Select the **Cloud Credentials** you defined above in [Configuring Cloud Credentials](/v1/docs/scality-artesca-configuration-guide#configuring-cloud-credentials) for this volume, such as ObjectStorageCluster1. **Region**: Use the default setting: **Other (S3 Compatible)**. For the remaining options, select what is appropriate for this volume.
3. Click **Save**.

This creates a new volume with Scality ARTESCA.
