Purpose
This guide provides administrators of Web Access with practical guidance for setting up and configuring Microsoft 365 integration for end users.
The Microsoft 365 integration in Web Access allows users to preview and edit supported documents directly within their browser, using Microsoft 365 for the web. This provides a familiar, cloud-based experience for working with Office documents without downloading files locally. The feature is available starting in NEA version 10.3.
Web Access supports previewing and editing supported documents using native Microsoft 365 services. This capability enables users to view and edit files directly from Web Access (when licensed) using familiar Microsoft 365 experiences.
For information on opening documents from Web Access directly in your desktop editor or viewer, see Local Edit.
How Microsoft 365 appears in Web Access
Microsoft 365 can be accessed in Web Access through the following areas:
Sidebar preview (version 10.3+).
Full-screen preview.
Editing in a new window (version 10.3+).
Licensing and Availability
Applies to NEA version 10.3 (Web Access). Available for all Web Access installations.
Previewing and Viewing
Microsoft 365 is available to all logged-in users and to users accessing files via shared links in all Web Access installations.
Editing
Editing capabilities are only available to customers who are logged in and who are licensed for Advanced Web Access.
Note: If you do not have Advanced Web Access, the Edit option is not displayed.
Licensing
For licensing enablement or questions, contact your Nasuni Account Team.
Browser Support
Viewing and editing are supported in most modern browsers.
Co-authoring (Real-time Editing)
Co-authoring is supported because users edit documents through Microsoft 365 for the web in Web Access. This capability allows multiple users to edit the same document simultaneously.
Note: Co-authoring is supported only within the same Web Access installation. Users on different Web Access installations cannot co-author the same document together in real time.
Networking Requirements
Microsoft 365 integration requires both ingress and egress connectivity from the NEA running Web Access. For more information on networking and firewall requirements, see the Firewall Guide.
Disabling Microsoft 365
To disable the Microsoft 365 integration, contact Nasuni Support.
If Microsoft 365 is disabled, Web Access changes in the following ways:
Microsoft 365 viewing is not available.
Microsoft 365 editing is not available.
Co-authoring is not available.
File previews fall back to the PDF-based previewer.
