Identified Issue with File IQ 10.3.x ACL-Based Access Filtering ACL Metadata Missing After Full Rescan
Nasuni has identified an issue in Nasuni File IQ (FIQ) version 10.3.x where ACL (Access Control List) metadata is not repopulated for existing files following a full rescan or reindex operation. As a result, a large number of objects may have no ACL-based Access details, preventing customers from using ACL-based filtering in the Volume Explorer, Volume Version Explorer and Advanced Filtering dashboards.
This issue was first observed following an upgrade and migration to version 10.3.1. Even after repeated full rescans, files with valid NT ACL metadata on disk do not have their ACL information restored in the FIQ database. The symptom is visible in the Volume Explorer, Volume Version Explorer and Advanced Filtering dashboards, where affected objects appear without any Access attributes.
Customers using ACL-based Access filtering in NTFS exclusive mode will be most impacted, as the Volume Explorer and Advanced Filtering dashboards will not reflect accurate ALLOW ACE data for the affected objects.
There is no security risk and no risk of data loss associated with this issue.
Affected Versions
All File IQ appliances running versions 10.3.x are affected. However, only customers with Premium licenses will see this issue in their dashboards. Customers who have recently upgraded to 10.3.x or performed a volume migration are most likely to encounter this issue.
Diagnosing the Issue
To confirm you are experiencing this issue, connect to the FIQ Grafana interface:
Open the Advanced Filtering Dashboard. Select a volume that has completed re-scan. Fill out fields in left panel and press Apply. Some files will show no “lock icon” in the Access column in the dashboard.

Open the Volume Explorer or Volume Version Explorer. Select a volume that has completed re-scan. Some files will show no “lock icon” in the Access column in the dashboard.

Fix & Workaround
The fix for this issue will be included in File IQ 10.3.4. We strongly recommend that you upgrade to 10.3.4 when available. Note that if you upgrade to 10.3.4 from a previous 10.3.x version, all volumes will have to be re-scanned.
