New Features and Updates

Nasuni Ops IQ Public Preview:

We are excited to launch the public preview of Nasuni Ops IQ, a powerful new observability product designed to provide you with on-demand operational intelligence across your entire Nasuni infrastructure.

Ops IQ delivers two new telemetry dashboards that help you stay proactive, optimize resources, and ensure seamless collaboration across all sites.

This release introduces two new dashboards in the Nasuni Portal:

  • Appliance Dashboard

  • Volume Dashboard

Key Benefits

  • Faster Troubleshooting: Immediately identify and address performance issues.

  • Data Protection Visibility: Clearly understand snapshot propagation and protection status.

  • Cost Optimization: Identify underutilized appliances and optimize resources based on actionable insights.

Getting Started

Visit portal.nasuni.com to experience a new level of clarity and confidence in your Nasuni environment.

No Setup Required

Ops IQ is delivered by Nasuni as a fully managed service as part of the Nasuni File Data Platform.

  • No additional setup.

  • No third-party software requirements.

  • Just update your Edge/File IQ appliances to v9.15 or later, and you're ready to go.

  • For customers using custom SSO Roles, be sure to add the new Ops IQ permissions to the appropriate roles.

Refer to Ops IQ Overview for more details.

Known Issue

  • For busy volumes with more than 10 connected appliances, increasing the date range beyond a few days may cause volume dashboard charts to time out. We recommend using shorter date ranges.

  • Newly created appliances may not be available in Ops IQ until the appliance reports to the Nasuni Orchestration Center(NOC). Complete a snapshot on the newly created appliance to send the required metrics to the NOC.

Released June 25, 2025

Overview

The Nasuni Portal (portal.nasuni.com) replaces the existing Nasuni Orchestration Center (NOC) UI (acount.nasuni.com) to provide a modern, scalable cloud infrastructure. This transition lays the foundation for future Nasuni features and product offerings while offering a managed SaaS platform that retains the current functionality. Users can continue accessing features such as downloading Nasuni Software, managing serial numbers, and configuring cloud and appliance services.

Additionally, the Nasuni Portal supports APIs for all UI functions and enhances security with features like granular roles and permissions. It also maintains an activity log that tracks all changes made through both the UI and API.

Note: The Nasuni Portal inherits the existing customer accounts and the MFA and SSO configurations from the NOC UI. Customers can continue to use their account.nasuni.com login credentials (SSO or email address and password) to log in to the Nasuni Portal.

New Features and Updates

UI Improvements

  • With Portal, we redesigned our user interface to improve clarity, reduce visual noise, and create a more consistent experience. The update enhances usability by introducing better spacing, typography, and color contrast.

  • We've also enhanced our front-end tooling to accelerate the delivery of UI improvements. Nasuni user interfaces will continue to evolve, and we want your feedback to be an important part of that.

  • Revised Site Navigation: We have grouped elements by function for easy access. Profile and account-related settings have moved to the avatar menu at the top right of the page.

Granular Permissions

  • Robust role management: Use roles to grant need-based access to specific functionality. You can create as many roles with SSO group associations as needed to fit your requirements.

  • Granular permission: The portal introduces read-only permissions for all existing and new functionality. By granting users view-only access, you can enforce tighter security.

  • Preset Roles: Along with Account Owner and SSO Default, Nasuni Portal supports two new preset roles for quick start-up and onboarding:

    • Super User:  A role that provides view and edit access to all products and features.

    • Read-Only: A role that provides view-only access to all products and features. Users assigned to this role cannot configure or update anything on the Portal.

Detailed Activity Logs

  • For security and compliance purposes, Nasuni Portal maintains an activity log to monitor system changes. This feature enables administrators to track critical system actions, ensuring visibility into changes from users and APIs.

  • Activity logs are accessible through the UI and API.

Robust API Support

  • New Portal APIs: With robust APIs, unlock the full power of the Portal—seamlessly perform any Portal activity programmatically and integrate with your workflows effortlessly.

  • API Authentication: To facilitate different use cases, Portal APIs support two types of API authentication.

    • Service Keys: Persistent API keys with assigned granular permissions for machine-to-machine authentication.

    • User Keys: Temporary tokens for user authentication, inheriting the user’s permissions based on their assigned roles for secure API interactions. User keys expire after 8 hours.
