Shutting down the Nasuni Edge Appliance or NMC

To shut down the Nasuni Edge Appliance, use the Web UI as described in chapter 3 of the Edge Appliance Administration Guide. To shut down the NMC, use the NMC as described in chapter 5 of the NMC Guide.

Caution: Always shut down the NEA or NMC before shutting down the VM.

Caution: Do not reboot or power off the appliance during the first boot. After the first boot completes, you may reboot or power off the appliance as needed.

Shutting down the virtual machine

As an alternative to shutting down the Nasuni Edge Appliance or NMC as described above, you can perform a “graceful” or “soft” shutdown of the virtual machine.

vSphere Client platform

To shut down the Nasuni Edge Appliance on the vSphere Client platform, follow these steps:

  1. Launch the VMware vSphere Client. The VMware vSphere Client login window appears.

  2. Log in to the vSphere Client with a valid IP address and your user name and password. The vSphere Client opens.

  3. In the pane on the left, expand the host to display the list of virtual machines.

  4. In the list of virtual machines, right-click the name of your Nasuni Edge Appliance. This is the name you entered when you installed the Nasuni Edge Appliance. Information about your Nasuni Edge Appliance appears in the right pane. Select Power from the drop-down menu.

  5. Then select “Shut Down Guest OS” (to shut down) or “Restart Guest OS” (to shut down then restart) from the drop-down menu.

The virtual machine shuts down or restarts.
