Nasuni Service Advisory
#240314
March 2024
Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2016 and earlier versions
End-of-Software-Support / End-of-Life Notification
Why am I receiving this?
Nasuni is announcing the official End-of-Software-Support and End-of-Life for Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2016 and earlier versions. Your account has been identified as having one or more Nasuni Edge Appliances (NEA) or your Nasuni Management Console (NMC) running on at least one of these hypervisor versions.
The End-of-Software-Support / End-of-Life date for Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2016 is with the release of version 10.0 of the Nasuni File Data Platform. This is scheduled to start rolling out in June 2024.
Nasuni has been made aware of a known Microsoft issue regarding Linux OS-based guest VMs running on Hyper-V servers prior to Server 2019. This affects Nasuni’s modernization plans for updating the underlying OS of our VMs. To address the issue, Nasuni VMs deployed on Hyper-V 2016 or earlier will not be able to upgrade to version 10.0 of the Nasuni File Data Platform when we begin the release of it in June 2024.
Accordingly, Nasuni will no longer be able to provide support for Nasuni appliances running on these Hyper-V versions starting with Nasuni File Data Platform v10.0.
Why do I care about this event?
Our data shows that you have Nasuni VM(s) impacted by these events and upgrading your Hyper-V hypervisor to a supported version (Hyper-V 2019 or later) is required to help you to maintain continuity and stability in your environment. Upgrading will also help to ensure that any future Nasuni upgrades will be on supported versions of Hyper-V.
Which Nasuni versions are affected?
All Nasuni VMs deployed on Hyper-V 2016 or earlier will be affected by this change. These appliances will not be able to upgrade to the next upcoming major release version (10.0) if your Nasuni VM(s) remain on these Hyper-V versions.
Nasuni VMs deployed on Hyper-V 2016 or earlier shall remain fully supported on supported versions of software (release version 9.14 and earlier – please see Nasuni Compatibility and Support Information).
Do I need to take any action?
Yes. You should enact plans to upgrade your underlying Hyper-V environments to Hyper-V 2019 or later before June 2024 in preparation for the Nasuni 10.0 release. Once that is completed, you will be able to upgrade your related Nasuni VMs to the next major software release, once available.
