Nasuni Service Advisory

#240425

April 2024

Update to Nasuni Service Advisory 240212

Revised Timing for Nasuni Data Services Platform OS Upgrade CentOS 7 to Rocky Linux 8

Why am I receiving this?

As part of Nasuni’s dedication to continuous improvement and quality, we are preparing to upgrade the operating system (OS) underlying the Nasuni Edge Appliance (NEA) and Nasuni Management Console (NMC) from CentOS 7 to Rocky Linux 8.  These upgrades will seamlessly coincide with upcoming Nasuni software releases.

In February 2024, we initially communicated our upgrade plans in Nasuni Service Advisory 240212.  Since then, we have adjusted our timeline.

This informational service advisory serves as an update to the initial notice and provides details about extended support and anticipated timing for the software releases that will include the new operating system.

What are the plans and anticipated timing?

Nasuni Edge Appliance (NEA) version 10.0 and Nasuni Management Console (NMC) version 24.2 will focus on upgrading the core platform’s underlying OS from CentOS 7 to Rocky Linux 8.  The revised timing for these software releases is Q4 2024.

CentOS 7 will reach EOL on June 30, 2024.  Nasuni has secured extended support for CentOS 7 through June 2025, ensuring the ongoing security and support of our products.

Nasuni will continue to provide all critical security and OS updates to supported versions of the NEA (currently 9.12.x, 9.14.x, and upcoming version 9.15) and the NMC (currently 23.2.x, 23.3.x, and upcoming version 24.1) until they reach End-of-Life (EOL).

Our policy of supporting the two prior generally available versions of the NEA and NMC (n-1, n-2) remains in place, per the Nasuni End-of-Life Policy.  This means that when NEA version 10.0 and NMC version 24.2 are generally available, we will continue to support NEA versions 9.14.x, 9.15.x and NMC versions 23.3.x and 24.1.x.

Nasuni is also working to migrate the Nasuni Access Anywhere (NAA) Server to operate on the same OS as the NEA and NMC.  We are developing a timeline for this migration, and we anticipate its completion in 2025.  In the interim, Nasuni will offer extended support for security patches relevant to CentOS 7 and we will continue to do so until we have issued two GA releases beyond the initial OS8 upgrade for NAA.

Which Nasuni versions are in scope?

All versions of the NEA before version 10.0, the NMC before version 24.2, and the NAA Server before the 1H 2025 release (version number TBD) are in scope.

Do I need to take action?

There is no required action at this time.  As the new releases become available, the only required action will be to upgrade.  As always, we recommend that you update your Nasuni software regularly to stay current with the latest features.
