Introduction
Hardware Nasuni Edge Appliances models N1040, N2040, and N4040 contain an internal USB flash drive used when doing a field reinstall of the hardware. Occasionally, there is a need to replace this flash drive in the field.
This document describes the procedure for replacing the internal USB flash drive.
Note: The N1050, N2050, and N4050 models do not contain the internal USB flash drive, so this procedure is unnecessary for those models.
Procedure for replacing the internal USB flash drive
To replace the internal USB flash drive, follow these steps:
Power off the hardware appliance.
Disconnect the hardware appliance from the power source.
Remove the cover from the hardware appliance.
Important: Use a grounding wrist strap to perform actions after the cover is removed.Locate the USB flash drive on the system board.
- For the N2040 and N4040, follow these steps:
Remove the PCI card indicated by the red circle.
On the motherboard, locate the USB connector indicated by the red circle.
For the N1040R, follow these steps:
a. Lift the blue tab. Remove the PCI card indicated by the red circle.
b. On the motherboard, locate the USB connector indicated by the red circle.
For the N1040T, , follow these steps:
a. Lift the blue tab. Remove the PCI card indicated by the blue circle.
Locate the USB connector indicated by the red circle.
Remove the gold Kapton tape used to secure the USB flash drive, then remove the USB flash drive from the USB port.
Insert the replacement USB flash drive into the USB port, then replace the Kapton tape.
Replace the cover on the hardware appliance.
Connect the hardware appliance to the power source.
Power on the hardware appliance.
This completes the replacement procedure.
