Introduction
Web Access provides remote file access and secure file sharing for the Nasuni Edge Appliance (NEA).
This guide is intended for IT administrators or individuals recovering or updating an NEA that includes Web Access.
Recovery
Web Access is recovered automatically through the standard NEA Recovery process. The Recovery process restores shared links from a daily backup.
After the automated recovery process is complete, the passwords for Shared Link Global Users must be re-entered through the Nasuni Management Console (NMC).
For version 10.0 and earlier, links must be regenerated (unless using Shared Links Global User for all shared links). Use Web Access to view links that need to be regenerated, and then regenerate them.
For version 10.1, shared links do not need to be regenerated after recovery.
Step 1 - Recover Edge Appliance
For recovery of the Nasuni Edge Appliance, see Recovery.
Step 2 - Update Shared Link Global User Passwords (if enabled)
Note: Shared Link Global Users might not be available on your platform, because they are not enabled by default.
To update the passwords for Shared Link Global Users, see Shared Link Global User.
Step 3 - Regenerate Links (10.0 and earlier)
For version 10.0 and earlier, to regenerate shared links, each user (who has created a shared link) must log into Web Access and select Shared Items. This lists the shared links that the user must regenerate, which creates a new URL.
Updating
Updating from 10.0 to 10.1
Recreate Shared Links
This update builds on the transition of our underlying operating system from CentOS 7 to Rocky Linux, accompanied by a refresh of the Web Access platform and its features. After the Nasuni Edge Appliance is updated, existing shared links are lost.
WARNING
After the NEA is updated, existing shared links are lost.
List Existing Shared Links
Before updating, you may want to inventory the shared links that have been created and by whom. For more information, see Shared Links Management.
Enable Previous Versions
To view the version history of items, you must now enable Previous Versions for a shared item. For more information, see Getting Started with Web Access.
Enable Email
You must enable email for your NMC to support emailing of links and Email OTP (available with an Advanced Web Access License). For more information, see Nasuni Management Console > Email Settings.
Disabling Shared Link Global Users
Since 10.1, shared links no longer become invalid when a user’s password changes. As such, the feature Shared Link Global User has been deprecated, and Nasuni strongly recommends removing it from any shares you have added it to before users re-create shared links. For more information, see Shared Link Global User.
